The doctoral program at XIM University is open to Indian as well as international students. Candidates need to satisfy the following criteria to be considered eligible for doctoral studies in select schools at XIM University, Bhubaneswar as indicated below. PERTAINING TO CANDIDATES HAVING A BACHELOR’S DEGREE AS THE HIGHEST DEGREE:
Candidates seeking admission to a school under XIM University after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree with Research or equivalent (BE/BTech, BSc-Agriculture and Allied Sciences etc.) should have a minimum of 75 percentage of marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA in a 10 point scale.
PERTAINING TO CANDIDATES HAVING A MASTER’S OR EQUIVALENT DEGREE:
Candidates seeking admission with having a master’s or an equivalent degree need to meet the school-specific requirements as in the table below

In the above table, aggregate percentage of marks required in the Master’s (or an equivalent) level is mentioned by specific schools separately, if not mentioned for any school, then it needs to be taken as 55%. In case the score is available on a letter-grade system or grade-point system, the University expects a minimum equivalent of prescribed percentage of marks in aggregate as per the awarding University’s norms for conversion to a percentage.
Domain candidates (Category-I) are candidates who on the date of joining the Ph.D program are expected to possess sufficient and relevant knowledge of the domain that characterize the school where the candidate has applied. The domain candidates are identified based on the following qualification basis as given in the table below (and received within the last 5 years) at the time of admission.

Those candidates who will not satisfy the stated criteria at the time of admission above are classified as Other (Category-II) candidates.
Step 1: | Fill up the "Login Details" (in the Next page) to create and receive by email a unique XU ID/Login ID and Password for applying to XIM University. If you have already received your Login ID and Password, then login as per Step 2. |
Step 2: | Login with your Login ID and Password. Fill up the Personal Details, Academic Details, Professional Details, Research Area Details and Statement of Purpose (SoP), upload your photo & signature, and Submit. (You may keep ready the scanned/digital images of your photo/signature in JPEG format, in advance. The dimensions of photo may be of about 200x250 pixels, and the signature may be of about 250x125 pixels, Photo within 85kb and signature within 50kb in size). |
Step 3: | Pay the application fee through the Payment Gateway. (Application fee is 1,600 INR). |
If you have filled the application form and paid the application fee successfully, you will receive the confirmation by email regarding the acceptance of your online application form.
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their academic records and SOPs. The shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for XIM Research Aptitude Test (X-RAT), Subject Test (if applicable), Presentation, and Personal Interview as per the modes decided and communicated. Details about X-RAT is available separately on our website. Candidates who have qualified UGC NET-JRF within three years (calculated from the date of issuance of the respective scores and the last date of application to the program) will be exempted from X-RAT. However, they will take part in the other selection processes as listed above.
The coursework for the selected candidates is expected to commence from June 2023.
PART-A
The university shall obtain a “No Objection Certificate” through the candidates for PhD Part Time program from the appropriate authority in the organization, where the candidates are employed, clearly stating that
PART-B
The candidates selected for the PhD Part Time program who are not employed anywhere should submit a self-declaration at the time of personal interview clearly stating that he/she will not join any organization for employment during the course of study without prior intimation and approval from the concerned authority. In case he/she joins any employment while pursuing the doctoral program at XIM University, he/she needs to submit the NOC from the appropriate authority of the new organization (clearly stating points 1-3 as given under PART-A) within 30 days of joining the organization, failing which the studentship will be cancelled.
One candidate can apply to only one program and one school. Also, candidates need to understand the Domain and Other (Non-Domain) category from the Eligibility. Before proceeding to the application form go through the Indicative Research Area section of different schools offered Ph.D in XIM University, Bhubaneswar in order to specify your choice of areas of research.
